Unions

All Unions should be disbanded.... and here's a good story of why(in most industrialized countries).

I've been saying for YEARS that unions should be disbanded(why have I been talking about unions for years?  because I'm an economist.. or at least my degree says so), or at the very least lose a LOT of their power.  I know that back when unions were created they were very beneficial.  In a time where bosses could work their employees to the bone for unfair wages, or have dangerous environments, the unions were a useful beneficial tool for collective bargaining.  Yes the boss could fire all the workers once they banded together, but this had in it other costs that would need to be considered.  Training a whole new workforce, you would lose productivity for days or weeks due to that alone.  However, now the need for unions has been eradicated.  All they are now is a way to slow down any job, and get paid more than it's worth.  There are laws (WHO) that protect workers against unfair working conditions.  Also there is minimum wage.  Is there any reason that a janitor in a union should be making 15-20 dollars an hour?  I'm not trying to rag on any type of job, any honest days work is good work.  However that being said, it's a job you could hire some kid to do for $8 dollars an hour.  Cleaning up messes etc. etc.  Now unions are used to get preposterous wages for the type of work they do.  What needs to happen is all union members should be fired, offered their jobs back - but have them be non-union.  If they won't take them without the union - then hire someone else.  Plenty of people are looking for work right now.
